Luas Extends to the O2 (the Point)

LUAS Extend to the O2

On Tuesday 8th December, Luas opened its extension to the Luas Red Line serving four more stops as far as The Point. This extension will enable Luas passengers to access George's Dock, Mayor Square, the NCI at Spencer Dock and also The Point.

This addition to the Red Luas Line will allow concert-goers to hop on the Red Line at any point to gain easy access to The O2. It also provides a gateway to The Point Village, which will soon see the opening of a variety of restaurants, businesses, a hotel and a multi-screen cinema in May. Point Village Square, which is expected to open in April, will also house open markets, free events & concerts.

The four new stops on the Luas Red Line, which will now travel from Tallaght through to the Point, is undoubtedly a very welcome addition to Luas passengers on the north of the city. To check timetables for both Luas lines go online to www.luas.ie, and for all traffic and travel updates, go online to www.aaroadwatch.ie.

"This is a badly needed piece of infrastructure." Says Nicola Hudson of AA Roadwatch. "It has been a big frustration for concert goers that there is a shortage of transport links and such limited parking at what is a major Dublin venue. The new link brings the ultra modern new developments of the quays and docklands area much closer to the heart of the city."
