Option 3: Pay as you go
If you have not registered your vehicle in either of the above methods you can still take the M50. You will default to the pay as you go option and the M50 car toll will be 3. This option is also suited to drivers who rarely use the motorway and do not see the need to register their vehicles.
Your number plate will be recorded by cameras on the overhead gantry as you pass the M50 toll and you are required to pay the 3 by 8pm the following day by any of the following methods.
- You can phone eFlow 1890 501 050 and use a credit or debit card to pay.
- You can use the internet and go to www.eflow.ie and use a credit or debit card to pay.
- You can walk into any one of the 8,000 Payzone outlets nationwide. These are located in many local stores including most branches of Spar, Centra, Texaco, Esso on the run and Topaz (originally Shell and Statoil). State your vehicle registration number and pay your 3 using cash, debit or credit card.

It is important to note that if you do not pay the toll within the allotted time:
- you will receive a notice in the post and incur a 3 penalty on top of the original 3 toll charge.
- after 14 days a further 40 penalty incurs, after 56 days its a further 100.
- if you still have not paid the amount by the final penalty notice, due legal proceedings will be initiated by the operator.
